0. Overview

There is never enough time in the class to do all the things we should do, and that is especially true this year.

1. Proceed with Caution

You live in a world where you can find almost anything you need online.

This is an enormous privilege and a terrible responsibility, both at the same time.

When you need to be online, focus: "Unitasking is a digital literacy skill."

When you're not online, be present in the physical world.

2. Archives and Backups

It's easy to make digital copies of work. You should keep copies of your stuff.

This is a bit of an old-fashioned view, given that you have less "stuff": no CDs, no DVDs, no photo albums, fewer books and notebooks. And yet digital stuff "goes away" all the time: online services disappear, iPhones get lost or stolen (along with all your photos), digital rights management (DRM) removes access to data.

Make some efforts to maintain access to your important stuff, and back it up.

See Archiving Work for further information.

3. Security

The internet is a crazy place. Learn about privacy, security, and encryption.

Also, be sure the keep backups.

4. Projects

There are so many things that you can do if you're interested in learning about computers and technology.

Literally everything is on the Internet.

Here are some ideas.

5. Future CS Work

People who have taken this class go on to do amazing things with computers and technology.

You will, too!

Find somebody who looks interesting in this gallery, and click on their picture to find out how they use technology.

Thanks for a great semester!

I'll see you at school one of these days!
